Daisy with graphics to see pictures
Support for books with images via download and rendering in Read2Go
192 votesYou can use DAISY books with images on Read2Go using iTunes. We are working on making them available through regular download in Read2Go.

Allow tap-to-turn-the-page style of navigation, instead of just scrolling
When reading visually it's much more physical effort to scroll and more mental effort to make sure you don't scroll too far, etc. The tap-for-next-page-of-text style of navigation that most ebook apps use is useful here.
Clarification: I think both options should be available, depending on the user's wishes.
127 votesWe are looking at next set of features for Read2Go. This is one of the features under consideration.

Add Read2Go in the "Open In" options for any links to DAISY books
If I point to links to zipped, DRM-free Daisy files in my O'Reilly eBooks account in Safari, and activate the links, I'm offered the option to "Open in" apps like Filer (file transfer app). However, other apps that support usage like editing text files can support the "Open in" option for zip files. I would like Read2Go to be able to support importing from direct links to zipped Daisy files in the Safari browser, so that the "Open in" dialog appears with "Read2Go" as one of the options.

add a touch dictionary
It would be very useful if you built in a touch dictionary allowing the user to touch a word and have the definition pop up. All ages would benefit from this- especially students!
93 votesWe are planning the next set of features now and this is definitely likely to be included.

Large Buttons: Improve accesibility for physically disabled
Make buttons larger or add scanning features
77 votesWe are exploring this feature. We need to work out some iOS implementation details.

Awesome idea! We are currently working on not just across iOS but Android Reader, the website as well. This is great time for you to share you thoughts. Get in touch.

Allow user to change line spacing independently of font size
I'd also like to be able to adapt the line spacing independently of the font size, eg at 48px landscape mode I can only see about 6 lines on the screen at once but could easily see 10 if the lines were closer together.
I know that clutter is an issue for some impairments though, and some people just plain don't like lines that are squished together, so different users will need different settings.

offer an option to not read page numbers
For young kids especially, on shorter books, reading page numbers distracts from the reading experience.
52 votesThanks for this feedback we will evaluate the implementation for skipping page number voicing. We have added this to our roadmap.

Search within book feature
When reading a book it would be great to quickly search for text within the whole book.
44 votesThis is a feature we are exploring. We still need to determine a few things.

let users upload their own pdfs. As a grad student i would like to read my textbooks.
As it stands I cannot read my own material. I have therefore spent $20 for this app and cannot use it! I am very disappointed as I had high hopes this app would help me.
Is there a way to open my own pdf files with your app?
39 votesCurrently we do not support PDF. There are some accessibility issues with PDF format in general. We will keep you posted if there are any changes.

Highlighting & Annotations
Please add the option for users to highlight and create annotations. This may be a luxury for some users; however, it is a necessity for some students. BookShare offers many students who struggle with reading disabilities the opportunity to enhance academic success- please continue to support them in adding more study options inside this app.

include the "reader voices" from the original PC applications with the Read2Go app.
My students prefer the "reader voice" selections used in the PC applications, saying they are more natural and fluent sounding than the two included on the app.
33 votesYes, Voice Dream Reader is a nice app that integrates with Bookshare using our API, and does offer additional voices as in-app purchases.
For you Voice Dream Reader users, are there reasons that you are staying on Read2Go vs. moving over to Voice Dream entirely? Are the additional in-app voices priced correctly on Voice Dream?
I also see comments from some members that they would like to be able to re-purpose voices that they have already licensed in other Apps within Read2Go. My understanding is that iOS doesn’t support this concept of cross-app sharing of resources, but if you have examples of other apps that have been able to make use of voices already on your device, we can investigate.
We would still love to hear more insights from Read2Go users on which voices and how much you are willing to pay (keeping in mind that we have to…

Improve navigation levels and controls for jump/skip behavior
I'd like to be able to set the two navigation steps that are available to me with the buttons at the bottom of the screen. I might prefer page and paragraph, someone else might prefer section and chapter.
Extra credit for making this a per book setting.
Rock on guys, you're doing awesome work here!

Support background playback & nav controls when locked
Like the iPod app, the Audible and Stitcher Apps can play while the device is locked, and will stop and start with two-finger double-tap. Also, play resumes after disconnecting from a call. I imagine this could only work with the speech engine and not with voice-over reading. Other than a few reproducable crashes, this is a great first approximation of Bookshare on iOS.

Allow users to beta test the Read2Go app.
Read2Go is a great app. With Read2Go I can read any were with out having to boot up my computer. Now I can read in bed or at the beach easily! Many users of this forum are regular users of Read2Go and know what to expect from an accessible reader. We could test beta versions of the app to help share our ideas of what works and what doesn't. I'm not sure if this is possible but it would be great to help make Read2Go event better. If beta testing of the app is not possible please let us know…
24 votesIf you want to be part of the ongoing group of beta testers please email your name, member login and UDID of your iOS device to read2go (at) benetech (dot) org. We will get back to you. Thanks for helping us improve this app.

Improve memory handling in Read2Go, specifically around VoiceOver usage
1. The text may be displayed on the screen, but vo can't see it. This means that you can't use vo navigation to review the text. This has serious implications: you can't see how something is spelled, you can't use vo speech to read a book, and you can't read a book in braille on a display.
2. As stated in #1, vo can't be used to read the text of a book. While the voices that come with the app do sound good, they take up so much memory that I was advised to close some apps on my…23 votes -
Improve audio playback controls usability and access
This may involve conflicts with voice over or zoom but how about on screen controls for audio without having to accurately tap small target. Many options like two fingers tap to play and stop or right flick one finger for next and two fingers for next section.

Add a sleep timer to stop reading
Many readers enjoy reading a book before they go to sleep. Having a configurable sleep timer would let users read until they fall asleep without losing their place in their book. Ideally, the app should make a bookmark of some kind when the book stops reading so the user can pick up where they left off the next time they open the book.

Add ability to export and import bookmarks and notes
It would be great to be able to export DAISY notes and bookmarks and import them. Then the user could use a PC or Mac-based player along with Read2Go and share notes and bookmarks between the instances of their books. Services such as Amazon Kindle do this already, though, obviously, only between the various Kindle software/hardware.
Perhaps use Dropbox as the intermediary: The user syncs the bookmarks and notes to a dropbox folder and associates her multiple DAISY readers with that folder.
15 votesCurrently we are thinking about adding a note taking feature. How would you like to behave? Any thoughts?

allow multiple Bookshare members to share a device
My husband, daughter and myself all are qualified bookshare members, but we share an iPad. Enabling multiple users would be very helpful!
14 votesWe are currently working on a Bookshelf feature. Each bookshelf will be attached to an individual member. Creating a family as a group of users is a nice idea. Any additional thoughts to how would like to use it?
